Ayperi, the former Artistic Director of El Genneyya Bellydancing, former President and Show Coordinator for the UW Bellydancing Club, the owner of Ayperi Bellydance, and the Assistant Artistic Director for Ashar Dance Company, has trained in Middle Eastern dance 2001-2008 with reknown dancers Mona Nwal, Jim Boz, Rachel Brice, and Suhaila Salimpour. Ayperi is known for her enthusiastic, technically impressive, "mesmerizing" bellydancing performances, as well as her veil work and innovative choreographies. Ayperi highlights a movement background in musical theater, Bhangra, Bollywood fusion, and ballet with unique bellydancing fusions. She performs regularly at the Casbah Restaurant as well as teaching with Social Life Dance Center and Dance Fabulous LLC. Misha, one of the Midwest's only male Bellydancers, has been trained in Middle Eastern dance with Mona Nwal, Carolyn, Jim Boz, and Ayperi. He uses his training in Middle Eastern dance to accentuate a movement background in jazz, musical theater, and ballroom dance. Misha also has trainging and performance experience in film and stage acting and vocal training. He was the frontman and emcee for several shows, including the UW Bellydancing Club Spring Bellydance Show in 2007, the "Walk Like an Egyptian" Bellydance Showcase in LaCrosse, WI in 2007, and the El Genneyya Bellydancing Troupe's Renaissance Faire act at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in the summer of 2007. | About Misha & Ayperi Bellydance Duo |
|
Ayperi and Misha both come from a classical dance background, with experience in ballet, jazz, ballroom, and musical theater styles, in addition to years of experience and training in Middle Eastern dance. Ayperi has training and performance experience in traditional Raks Assaya, Turkish folk and Oriental, Rom (Gypsy), Egyptian Oriental, American Caberet, Tribal, and in many fusion styles. The pair also specialize in teaching and performing bellydancing with veil, handheld candles / palm torches, live music, and Bellydancing for Men.
The pair is quickly becoming known for their innovative choreographies, unique contrast of feminine and masculine stylizations, and sharp drum solos. As previous governing council members of the UW Madison Bellydancing Club and founding members and Artistic Directors of El Genneyya Bellydancing Troupe, the two dancers have an incredible amount and variety of performance experiences behind them, ranging from live music and dance performances at Renaissance Faires and formal Middle Eastern dance showcases to nightclubs, bellygrams, and restaurant dancing.
Ayperi offers classes and workshops in Beginner, Continuing, and Intermediate Bellydancing through Dance Fabulous and performs regularly at The Casbah Restaurant in Madison, WI.
